Powering Jammu and Kashmir
Erickson electrical powerline transmission crews are bringing power from central Punjab to the far reaches of Jaamu and Kashmir. To raise transmission lines over the inner Himalayas’ Pir Panjal range, and fly at heights between 9,000 and 12,000 feet, the S-64 heavy lift helicopter is required in order to access terrain that vehicles could not. Erickson excels in the most remote and rugged environments where infrastructure such as roads, railways, rivers and runways don’t exist.
The S-64 provides a time- and cost-saving, construction tool, capable of precision, heavy-lift placement of transmissions towers in challenging conditions. With engines pulling from nearly 9,000 horsepower, the S-64 has the strength to lift 20,000 pounds (9,071 kilograms). The ability to send aloft this much weight into the sky, enables endless opportunities for projects in India.

- Construction – Erickson has decades of experience in powerline tower erection and construction. Our S-64 teams have remarkable piloting skill, massive lift capacity, and quick, precise placement abilities. We can transport an entire tower and cross-arm ski lift structure up to the set site and keep it stationary and level while crews bolt it down. See more on our Transmission Line page.
- Mining – Accessing remote terrain for mining and mineral exploration is a hallmark of the Erickson fleet. We have participated in successful mining projects in Canada with Equipment Moves, Powerline Construction, Supply Transportation, Fire Suppression and Oil Spill Abatement.
- HVAC & Specialty – With its exceptional lift capacity and our patented anti-rotation rigging system, the S-64 has successfully flown more than 40,000 HVAC units onto skyscrapers, automobile plants, and aviation. The Erickson pilots and crews are adept at precision placements of heavy, valuable cargo. See more on our HVAC & Specialty page.
- Oil & Gas: Erickson has provided aerial services for the movement of personnel, drill rigs, and production platform components in locations worldwide. Our crews are highly specialized to fly for oil and gas operations above the ocean, desert, and anywhere in between. See more at our Oil & Gas page
