In the past twenty years, Greece has seen its fair share of deadly wildfires, facing its deadliest wildfire in 2018 that devastated the seaside town of Mati. Greek civil protection authorities are now gearing up to face the uptick in wildfires resulting from increasingly dry weather spells and deforestation.

Solution
In order to respond to the increase in deadly wildfires in Greece, Erickson has provided up to 6 S-64 Air Crane® helicopters each year and debuted the “Sea Snorkel,” a feature that allows the helicopters to draw from saltwater sources for drops in record time. For the first time ever, in 2020, Erickson has provided 9 total aircraft to the Hellenic Fire Brigade.
