Erickson Incorporated has renewed longstanding contracts for aerial timber harvesting with Canadian aerial heavy lift company Helifor Canada, and one of the largest lumber producers in Canada, Western Forest Products (WFP). Both contracts enable Erickson to continue providing aerial timber harvesting services in British Columbia and western Canada.
“We are pleased to continue our long standing relationship with Helifor and Western Forest Products. With these renewals, Erickson extends our operations in Canada past 30 years,” said Andy Mills, Erickson’s Vice President of Commercial Aviation Services.
The contract Columbia Helicopters subsidiary, Helifor, is the fifth renewal with Helifor and provides for year-round services with one Erickson S-64 Aircrane until December 31, 2016. This renewal has an increased scope of work with the customer option to add an additional Aircrane. Erickson will also provide pilots, full field maintenance support crews, parts, and components.
Working with Vancouver-based WFP, Erickson is contracted to provide one S-64 Aircrane to fly in western British Columbia on multiple timber sites. In addition to the helicopter, Erickson will also nsupply pilots, maintenance support crews, parts, and components. The renewed, 12 month contract began on February 1 and is further renewable.
“Aerial timber harvesting is where we began as a company, and we are pleased to continue that tradition,” said Mills. “With our capable pilots and reliable crew, the Aircrane is one of the most effective tools for harvesting timber in remote and environmentally sensitive areas.”
